One of the reasons The Old Rectory is are such an enjoyable place to live is due to the impeccable standard of care offered by our team of staff, who constantly prioritise preserving dignity, encouraging independence and ensuring, above all, comfort.
Specialist dementia care
Residents who live with dementia are cared for according to their individual needs and staff within our homes are all trained to a high standard to look after them.
The Old Rectory has been adapted to make it safe and secure for dementia residents so they have the freedom to move about the home and can continue to have a full and active life.
Therapeutic and stimulating activities are also tailored to help residents with dementia, for example; reminiscence sessions based on their life history, sensory boxes and singing for the brain.

The Community Mental Health Team provide advice and support and we also have full support from the local Doctor and District Nurse Teams.
Respite stays
Staff are always available to support 24 hours a day, so you can rest easy knowing that your loved ones are safe.
Respite care is necessary as although caring for a relative is rewarding, a break is also essential so that you can re-charge your batteries and renew that positive outlook. We offer short-term stays for the one you are caring for and would be delighted to discuss the care you would like us to provide so you can have peace of mind and enjoy that well-earned rest.

Day care
At The Old Rectory, we extend our warm hospitality not just to our full-time residents but also to those who seek day care services.
Our day care program offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the care, comfort, and companionship available in our homes, whilst allowing you to return to the comfort of your own home each evening.

Our care plans
Documented care plans allow residents to dictate how they wish to be cared for.
Every member of our team is friendly, respectful, approachable and dedicated to delivering person centred care.
Our care plans allow residents to dictate how they wish to be cared for and we work closely with residents and their families in planing for the future.

Furthermore a life plan is put in place where residents are invited to have an Advance Care Plan to identify what is important to them at the end of life. Working together in this way reduces hospital admissions in the final stage of life and enables a resident to die with dignity in the home, if that is their wish.
Family care portal
We use an electronic system called Nourish to help manage the care of our residents. We use it to record real-time, accurate, up-to-date information about our residents’ health and well-being, which is instantly accessible to everyone in the care team.

Residents’ loved ones are also able to access this information through the Nourish Family Portal. The Family Portal was specifically designed to allow family members to get closer to the care provided to their loved ones, allowing them to feel totally secure in the quality of the care we provide.
Training
All care staff receive extensive training and new members of staff are expected to complete training in Health & Safety, Nutrition/ Food Hygiene, Safeguarding, First Aid, Infection Control, Manual Handing and Fire Evacuation within the first three months of starting.
Our staff all hold a Care Certificate or Health & Social Care Diploma Level 2 or above so are qualified to provide excellent care.

All staff receive training in safeguarding and protecting adults, and are subject to all the appropriate checks including a Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) check, which is required before a member of staff starts work.
